DSP Support - Social Sharing Guidelines

Kartel pitches your releases to DSPs every week with a goal to secure playlist support. If you receive a playlist update from our team, please shout about the results on your socials and tag the platform.

When a platform like Spotify or Apple Music promotes your music, it’s good practice to reciprocate by directing your followers there. DSPs love to see posting on artist and label social channels.

To help you make the most of celebrating and sharing editorial or curator features across DSPs like Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music, we have put together some guidelines on effectively sharing playlist achievements on social media platforms.

WHAT SHOULD YOU POST?

Some of the DSPs offer convenient features to automatically access assets created for your music and playlists. Additionally, certain media platforms may also provide manually created assets to make it easy for you to share.

Visual assets are available for Spotify, which you can easily create and customise within Spotify Promo Cards. These are available for:

  • Artists

  • Songs

  • Albums

  • Playlists (Limited)

Unfortunately, you’re not able to search for playlists promo cards. However when you search for your song, there might be an additional version for a playlist that it’s in. This isn’t currently available for all playlists, so some won’t appear here.

Make sure you are registered with Apple Music For Artists because this where you can download assets that can be used for social posting.

Within Apple Music For Artists, there is a Promote section, from here you can create specific assets for:

  • Artists

  • Albums

  • Songs

  • Pre-adds

  • Music Videos

  • Playlists

There’s also options to customise these assists within Apple Music for Artists, as you can see in the examples.

You can download playlist covers you’ve been added to via your artist access in the Playlist Report section on https://creators.deezer.com

WHAT SHOULD YOU WRITE?

When creating your posts, avoid thanking the partner, as this isn’t necessary. Instead, use compelling call-to-action phrases that encourage your audience to click-through, stream or listen to your release.

For example, you can say "Stream my new single now on Spotify" or "Check out my new single in Fresh Finds now."

Other examples of call to action phrases are:

  • “Listen to my new single on”

  • “Check out my new single in [playlist name] now”

  • “Listen now”

  • “Stream it now”

  • “Excited to be featured in”

Tagging the DSP in your posts is also important. Before creating the post, double-check the official account name of the DSP to ensure it links to the correct account.

Some tagging examples on Instagram are: @spotify @spotifyuk @applemusic @amazonmusic @deezer @beatport

LINKING

A key goal for the social posts should be for your song to stream more.

Always include a direct link to the playlist or where possible a link to the specific track within a playlist. Correct links can be found in the artist portal or taken directly from the playlist on the DSP. Apple Music For Artists has a direct link available to the track within the playlist, which is perfect to use for social posts.

If you have any questions or require further guidance on sharing your results on social channels, please don't hesitate to contact our client support team.
